Designed specifically for association board members and brought to you by the Center for Community Association Volunteers (CCAV), this program will explain why a community association needs a vision and who is responsible for creating that vision. Discover the role of the board, volunteers, membership, and management when developing a mission statement for your community. Board members will learn the necessary steps to create and achieve the vision, and why it’s important to routinely revisit the vision once it’s established.
This program will discuss:
- Who is involved in the development of your community’s vision?
- What are the necessary steps to crafting a vision statement?
- When should the vision be re-visited?
- Why does your community really need a vision?

Sandra K. Denton, CMCA, LMS, PCAM, is the General Manager for Sienna Plantation Residential Association (SPRAI) in Missouri City, Texas. Sienna is a large master planned community encompassing over 10,000 acres and approximately 5,000 homes. Sandy is chair of Community Associations Institute’s (CAI) large-scale committee, chair of the Texas Legislative Action Committee (TLAC), and past president of CAI’s (CAI) National Board of Trustees. Sandy also offers consulting services to associations throughout the country on policy governance and strategic planning.
